The next stop on my great European Adventure was London, England. I have wanted to visit this city for years and it was amazing to finally get to see it in person. The first night was filled with quite an adventure, but probably not in the way you would think. A little after four in the morning a deafening alarm woke me up. At first, I thought it was alarm, but then I noticed the red light flashing overhead. I grabbed a sweater, my shoes, phone, and room key card and went out into the hall finding more sleepy-eyed and confused people. With a small crowd, I made my way down six flights of stairs and outside. Police and hotel/airport management ushered us away from the building, which was apparently on fire. Two long hours later we found out that someone had taken rugs from the airport chapel and set fire to my hotel and the one next door. Not quite the adventure I had imagined.
But over the next few days, I spent my time exploring London. I went just about everywhere. Parliament, Big Ben, Westminster Abbey, the BBC, the Tower of London, 221b Baker Street aka the Sherlock Holmes Museum, and many more places around town. Unfortunately, the memory card I was taking pictures on was damaged and I was only able to recover four photos, but I have replaced the card for future adventures. Tomorrow I head for Paris, so I am excited to share that with you soon!
