Phnom Penh & Mondulkiri, Cambodia: Week 3, July 2013

I spent the third week of my visit in the East, in the jungle, with the elephants (and spiders) at an elephant sanctuary. This was quite the experience. I never thought in a million years I would find myself in a remote jungle in Southeast Asia, but there I was (and becoming a better person for it). Though I ended up contracting a very nasty bacterial blood infection, it was still one of the best experiences of my life.

I have never felt better than when I had the opportunity to live in a new culture, while also having the opportunity to help others. If you are like me and want to mix travel with volunteering, then I highly recommend this type of travel experience!
